Position Summary/Key Responsibilities:
In the role of an expert buyer for packaging materials, you will be responsible for proposing suitable specifications and procurement methods to the requesters of the materials under your purview. You will also need to analyze procurement strategies and associated hypotheses, and conduct verification exercises. Having a clear understanding of strategic procurement and the ability to adapt to change is crucial.
The following seven procurement steps can be executed in particular:
Step 1 (Expenditure Analysis): Gather quantitative and qualitative data to obtain a comprehensive overview of packaging materials.
Step 2 (Business Requirements Determination): Understand the quantitative and qualitative business requirements that the goods and services to be procured must meet, as well as the rationale behind them.
Step 3 (Supply Market Understanding): Gain a comprehensive understanding of the supply market, including current and potential future suppliers.
Step 4 (Strategy Planning): Devise a plan to realize the full potential value and determine how to engage with suppliers.
Step 5 (Strategy Implementation): Engage with and negotiate with suppliers according to the strategy developed.
Step 6 (Transition and Change Management Planning): Create a plan for enabling the new supply model, if required, as the strategy is implemented.
Step 7 (Monitoring, Managing, and Reevaluating): Manage supplier relationships to identify additional value beyond cost savings opportunities that are strategic in nature.
