Our client, a well-established company in the retail industry, is seeking an Accounting Director for a hybrid role. This position offers the opportunity to lead the Record to Report sub-function within the Finance team, focusing on transformation and compliance with global accounting standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • - Lead Record to Report team in Japan and Asia Pacific
  • - Ensure compliance with IFRS and Japan GAAP
  • - Oversee tax and customs audits, liaise with Group Tax
  • - Manage internal stakeholders and change management programs
  • - Implement new local tax and RTR initiatives
  • - Review and validate accounting transactions and reports
  • - Monitor and meet Finance service KPIs and SLAs

Qualifications:

  • - Qualified accountant or professional accounting qualification in Japan
  • - 10+ years in Accounting and Shared Services environment
  • - Experience with IFRS in retail environment
  • - SAP ERP experience and knowledge of Business Planning and Consolidation (BPC)
  • - Strong Japan GAAP and local compliance knowledge
  • - Native-level Japanese and business-level English
  • - Experience with tax audit and customs audit processes
  • - Experience in managing multinational teams
