Our Client

Our client, a global technology company in the financial services industry, is seeking a Senior Compliance Officer - Payments to join their team in Tokyo. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team across multiple countries, focusing on regulatory compliance and advisory for local licenses, and managing relationships with regulators. The position offers a competitive base salary up to 27M with RSU, a hybrid work setup, and the chance to work in a multicultural environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Maintain regulatory licenses for Japan
- Manage relationships with regulators like KLFB and FSA
- Conduct regulatory analysis and advise product teams
- Oversee compliance with local obligations and controls
- Provide compliance advisory to internal teams
- Lead audits with Japanese regulators
- Respond to compliance escalations from internal teams
- Develop and maintain compliance frameworks
- Educate teams on Japanese regulatory requirements

Qualifications

- 8+ years in financial regulation compliance in Japan (mandatory)
- Expert in Japanese regulatory compliance, including Payment Service Act
- Fluency in Japanese and English (mandatory)
- Experience with Japan Financial Services Agency or Local Finance Bureau
- Experience with compliance frameworks in financial services
- Strong project management skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
