The Sales Director – Card Payments is responsible for driving new business and revenue growth across credit-card issuers, acquiring banks, processors, and card-scheme partners. The role focuses on selling payment technology, processing platforms, and value-added services into highly regulated, enterprise financial-services clients.
This is a senior, quota-carrying role requiring strong executive engagement, complex deal management, and a deep understanding of the card-payments ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own end-to-end sales for card-payments solutions, from pipeline development through contract negotiation and close
  • Develop and execute a territory and account strategy targeting credit-card issuers, acquirers, processors, and card networks
  • Engage senior stakeholders (C-suite, Heads of Cards, Payments, IT, Risk, Compliance) at client organisations
  • Manage complex, multi-year sales cycles involving legal, compliance, security, and procurement reviews
  • Build strong partnerships with internal teams including Pre-Sales, Product, Legal, Customer Success, and Delivery
  • Drive revenue growth through new client acquisition as well as expansion within existing accounts
  • Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline reporting, and CRM hygiene
  • Represent the company at industry events, client meetings, and executive briefings
  • Provide market and customer feedback to influence product strategy and roadmap
Required Experience & Skills
  • 10+ years of enterprise sales experience within payments, fintech, or financial-services technology
  • Strong knowledge of the credit-card ecosystem, including issuers, acquirers, processors, and card schemes
  • Proven track record of closing large, complex B2B deals with financial institutions
  • Experience selling payment platforms, processing systems, fraud, risk, or value-added card services
  • Ability to navigate long sales cycles and multiple decision-makers
  • Strong executive presence and negotiation skills
  • Business-level Japanese and fluent English required (for Japan-based roles)
