Scope: Japan (with Global / Regional Interface)
Role Overview
A global pharmaceutical organization is seeking a Vaccines Franchise Medical Manager to lead and execute the non-promotional medical and scientific strategy for an adult vaccines portfolio in Japan.
This role acts as a strategic medical partner to the business, combining deep therapy-area expertise with strong cross-functional collaboration to raise standards of care, shape clinical practice, and deliver patient-centric medical strategies aligned with franchise objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute the medical and scientific strategy for the vaccines franchise
- Act as a strategic partner to commercial and cross-functional stakeholders
- Drive integrated evidence planning, including data gap analysis and RWE strategy
- Translate complex scientific and clinical data into actionable medical insights
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external experts and stakeholders
- Collaborate closely with global and regional medical teams to ensure local input into broader strategies
- Lead the creation and execution of medical plans and digital scientific content
- Champion patient-centricity in all medical activities
- Influence across networks and contribute to team development through coaching and mentoring
- Strong medical affairs or clinical background within pharma or healthcare
- Deep understanding of vaccines, immunology, epidemiology, or related therapy areas
- Ability to operate independently in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Excellent communication and scientific engagement capabilities
- Strong business acumen and stakeholder management skills
- MD (preferred), PhD, or PharmD
- Full professional proficiency in English and Japanese
