Finance Manager - Japan - Health & Wellness

We are currently assisting our client, a leading company in the health and wellness industry, in their search for an experienced Finance Manager to join their team in Japan. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial planning and analysis (FP&A) functions, accounting and tax management, as well as supervising a team of 3-4 finance staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise a team of 3-4 finance staff
• Manage FP&A function, accounting, and tax operations
• Report Japan market performance to General Manager and Global Finance team
• Evaluate sales and marketing business plans from a financial perspective
• Calculate ROI for each project, ensuring cost-effectiveness
• Analyze product cost and margins for import and local production
• Collaborate with other departments on business development initiatives and budget projections
• Prepare short- and long-term financial projections based on business plans
• Ensure timely filing of taxes, payroll returns, and other accounting-related matters
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors for timely financial statement audits
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial report packages with a focus on balance sheet and profit & loss analysis
• Establish and manage internal controls across all company departments
• Draft and liaise with attorneys for agreements and contracts with employees, customers, and third parties
• Support HR functions, including labor cost analysis, payroll, and related taxes
• Contribute to the Japan business as an active member of the management team
• Perform ad-hoc tasks as required

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
• CPA qualification holder or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in accounting and managing day-to-day financial operations
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Business-level English abilities
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
