The Japan Communications Manager will be responsible for both the strategic direction and execution of internal and external comms activities within Japan; building and managing the company's reputation.
External reputation management:
- Corporate PR
- Unbranded comms
- Handling product announcements, crises etc
- Coordinating brand PR in collaboration with marketing teams
- Comms related to manufacturing sites
Internal communications aimed at supporting the company's operations in Japan:
The role reports directly to the GM. This position provides strategic communications advice to the local Leadership Team and works closely with the wider Japan Communications Team. Work with the Heads of division as key stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
Leadership Comms Strategy
- Act as a member of the Japan Leadership Team, providing strategic counsel to the GM to support business growth. Offer guidance on corporate &brand reputation risks; advise on business policies, practices, actions, internal comms strategies
- Implement comms plan: both internal comms & external PR
Internal Comms
- Develop an annual internal comms plan for company goals
- Internal comms materials: eg, content for social platform (Yammer)
- Organise events: Town Halls, All Hands meetings, celebrations
- Comms support to leadership
Brand & Corporate PR
- Work with brand teams & external agencies for execution of brand PR campaigns
- Position company as industry leader , aligning with global messages
- Manage media inquiries for brand and corporate topics
Ideal Candidate Profile
Essential Skills and Experience
- Experience in corporate comms roles
- Internal comms: advising leadership on organizational change
- Proven track record in managing both brand and corporate PR programmes
- Collaborating with agencies to produce content: eg, video & social media
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience from any kind of consumer goods company, particularly in wellness or beauty sectors, FMCG, manufacturing etc
