Our client, an innovative performance apparel company in the sports retail industry, is seeking an In-House Legal Counsel for their Japan operations.

This role offers the opportunity to handle a broad variety of legal matters, providing support on legal, commercial, and compliance risks, and partnering with various teams to ensure compliance with local laws. Key Responsibilities:

- Advise on legal, commercial, and compliance risks in Japan
- Negotiate leases with landlords
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws
- Draft and review commercial contracts and legal documents
- Provide legal advice on consumer protection and data privacy
- Develop and upgrade contract templates for Japan
- Support digital and technology initiatives
- Coordinate with external counsels for legal matters
- Conduct legal research on Japanese regulations

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree or above in laws
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in MNCs
- Excellent communication skills in English
- Experience in retail and ecommerce is preferred but not mandatory
- Fluency in Japanese
- Experience with Japanese labor laws and regulations
- Experience with contract negotiation and drafting
- Familiarity with data privacy and security laws
