Fixed Income Developer LeadLocation: Tokyo, Japan (Hybrid)
Reports to: Head of Fixed Income Technology, APAC Overview We are seeking an experienced Fixed Income Developer Lead to design, develop, and oversee technology solutions supporting the firm’s Fixed Income trading, risk, and analytics platforms. The role combines technical leadership, hands-on development, and close collaboration with trading, quants, and operations teams across the APAC region. Key Responsibilities
Lead development initiatives across Fixed Income systems including pricing, risk, trade capture, and electronic trading platforms.
Partner with front office teams (trading, sales, risk) to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
Oversee and mentor a small team of developers, ensuring adherence to best practices in software design, testing, and deployment.
Architect and maintain low-latency, high-availability systems for bonds, swaps, repos, and credit products.
Collaborate globally with technology teams in EMEA and the US to align architecture, APIs, and system standards.
Implement automation and DevOps practices to streamline CI/CD pipelines and production releases.
Support production environments, ensuring stability, performance tuning, and rapid incident resolution.
Drive modernization initiatives—migrating legacy systems to cloud-based or microservice architectures where appropriate.
Technical Skills
Strong programming experience in C#/.NET or Java, plus scripting languages (Python preferred).
Solid understanding of Fixed Income products (Rates, Credit, Repo, FX, Derivatives).
Experience with electronic trading protocols (FIX, FpML) and market data integration (Bloomberg, Reuters, Tradeweb, MarketAxess).
Familiarity with risk and pricing engines, data feeds, and reference data systems.
Hands-on experience with SQL/NoSQL databases, Kafka or MQ messaging, and API design (REST/gRPC).
Knowledge of DevOps tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
8+ years of experience in financial technology, with at least 3+ years in a Fixed Income or trading systems environment.
Proven leadership in development projects or team management.
Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
Business-level English; Japanese proficiency is an advantage.
