A Tokyo-based AI company focused on financial services is hiring a Senior Data Scientist to lead high-impact machine learning and AI projects for major financial institutions.

This is a hands-on lead role for someone who wants to own the full path from business problem → modeling strategy → feature engineering → model evaluation → MLOps design → production impact.

You’ll work with banks, financial groups, and other enterprise clients on real-world use cases where data science directly connects to business value.

What you’ll lead:
  • ML / AI projects for major financial institutions
  • Modeling and evaluation for structured / tabular data
  • Python-based data processing, feature engineering, and model development
  • MLOps design, model monitoring, and continuous improvement
  • Technical proposals and requirements definition with consultants and clients
  • Mentoring, code review, and technical support for junior / mid-level data scientists
  • Turning reusable analysis patterns into internal assets, packages, and product ideas
Great fit if you have:
  • 3+ years of practical machine learning experience
  • Strong experience with structured / tabular data
  • Python experience for model development, evaluation, and operations
  • Technical lead or PM experience in data science projects
  • Advanced Japanese, around JLPT N1 level
