An international manufacturing company is seeking a Factory Cost Accountant to support plant finance and cost accounting operations in Japan. Key Responsibilities
Monitor and analyze manufacturing and operational costs
Support standard costing processes for materials, labor, and overhead allocation
Manage inventory and cost of goods sold accounting activities during monthly closing
Analyze production variances and prepare financial reports
Conduct inventory reconciliation and support internal control activities
Assist with preparation of reports for internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with production, supply chain, and finance teams on cost improvement initiatives
Coordinate with auditors and external advisors on accounting-related matters
Support continuous improvement of accounting and reporting processes
Qualifications
Practical experience in cost accounting within manufacturing environments
Business-level English and native-level Japanese communication skills
Knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
Strong Microsoft Excel skills including pivot tables and advanced functions
Understanding of accounting standards related to inventory and cost accounting
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with ERP systems is preferred
Business-level Chinese proficiency is a plus
Experience in multinational or manufacturing companies is preferred
