I’m hiring for an Engineering Manager role focused on Data Platform at a high-growth product company in Japan. This is a strong fit for engineering leaders who want to build and scale a core platform from an early stage, lead a team through technical ambiguity, and shape both the product and the organization as the business grows.
What you’ll do
Lead a data platform engineering team
Drive architecture and technical decision-making for core platform systems
Partner with product and business stakeholders on roadmap and execution
Build the foundation for scalable data infrastructure, governance, and long-term platform strategy
Hire, coach, and grow engineers while improving team effectiveness
What we’re looking for
Experience managing engineering teams of 10+ people
Strong leadership in product growth and technical problem-solving
Experience hiring, mentoring, evaluating, and building teams
Solid technical background in data platforms, distributed systems, or core infrastructure
Fluent business-level Japanese
Nice to have
Experience leading data platform, search, or MLOps-related organizations
Experience modernizing or migrating large-scale complex systems
Familiarity with technologies such as GCP, Kubernetes, Spark, Iceberg, Java, or Rust
Business-level English
