A world famous university based in Japan is now searching for a CIO to manage their whole IT department and lead them on their strategy with new projects and implementation.
About the Company
Focusing their researches in five major areas: Neuroscience, Molecular Sciences, Environmental and Ecological Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
The school accepts 40 students per year, creating a very low student to instructor ratio. Those instructor not being only experienced teachers but also international scientist giving lecture and/or conference. By the time they graduate, students have accumulated not only abstract knowledge and practical skills but also the kind of professional connections necessary to launch their careers as world-class researchers.
Your Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction in all aspects of the computing environment
- Define, develop, and implement the overall ICT and information security strategy and policies
- Lead and develop the digital transformation strategy
- Oversee the research and administrative computing services
- Ensure the protection of digital assets, maintaining integrity, security, and privacy of information
- Provide advice and guidance to all areas of the university on ICT procurement and vendor contract negotiations (hardware, software, and major infrastructure and systems)
- Develop and monitor the annual ICT budget
The Skills and Experience You Need to Succeed
- 7 years of experience in the information technology field
- Prior managing experience
- Strong IT security knowledge
- Fluent English
- Japanese is a great plus to have but you still need to be based in Japan
- Experience in high level management of research or education ICT environments
- Ph.D. in a science or science-related discipline, with some post-doctoral experience
