A global organization within the healthcare and life sciences sector is seeking a legal professional to support legal and compliance activities across its Japan business operations. This role will work closely with internal stakeholders and regional teams to provide practical legal guidance, support compliance initiatives, and contribute to risk management activities across the organization.
This opportunity is suitable for candidates looking to broaden their in-house legal experience within an international and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal and compliance support to internal business functions and operational teams
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements and related documentation
- Support compliance activities and internal policy implementation
- Advise stakeholders on applicable laws, regulations, and business-related legal matters
- Coordinate with external legal advisors and support legal risk management activities
- Conduct compliance-related training and internal awareness initiatives
- Collaborate with regional and cross-functional teams on legal projects and process improvements
- Support intellectual property and corporate governance-related activities as needed
Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer in Japan or another jurisdiction
- 4–6 years of legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house environment
- Native-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
- Knowledge of Japanese legal and regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with compliance-related matters and corporate legal support
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience within healthcare, medical device, pharmaceutical, or regulated industries is a plus but not mandatory
