I am hiring an AI Software Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer for a fast-growing Japanese InsurTech business building the infrastructure that allows insurers and consumer platforms to launch digital insurance products through APIs.
The company is developing what could be described as a Shopify-style platform for insurance. Its technology is already used to support digital insurance products across areas such as travel, healthcare, and embedded financial services.
This position combines product engineering and Forward Deployed Engineering. You will work directly with enterprise clients, translate complex requirements into technical solutions, and build AI products in a highly regulated environment.

What you will do
• Build AI products for insurance companies and financial institutions
• Work directly with clients from technical proposals through implementation
• Design architecture that meets security and governance requirements
• Develop across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure
• Integrate Generative AI, AI agents, voice AI, and workflow automation
• Build LLM evaluation, review, and guardrail processes
• Collaborate with BizDev, consultants, product managers, and engineers
• Test new products internally through active dogfooding

Tech stack
Go, TypeScript, React, Next.js, Python, FastAPI, AWS, Azure, Terraform, Docker, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Snowflake, dbt, Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Claude, OpenAI API, MCP

What we are looking for
• Backend web application development experience
• Experience with Go or another statically typed language
• Basic AWS or cloud infrastructure experience
• Experience implementing unit tests and end-to-end tests
• Ability to communicate directly with clients and translate business needs into technical requirements
• Strong interest in AI-assisted software development
• Business-level Japanese
